Four persons have been reportedly killed during a rival cult clash at the Polytechnics community of Ogwashi-Uku in the Aniocha North Local Government Area of Delta State.

PUNCH Metro gathered that the incident occurred at the old palace ground in Ogbe-Nti-Obi Ogwashi community on Monday.

Community sources told our correspondent that two rival cult groups had stormed the scene of the Ine festival but were chased away by the elders at the festival ground.

He said, “They killed four people during the clash, one of the youths killed was an indigene of Ogwashi-Uku.

“Shortly after being chased away from the venue of the festival, they started attacking one another with dangerous weapons and four were murdered in the process.

“Two of them escaped with injuries in their pool of blood but we can’t say whether one of the people that escaped is alive or dead. The other one was found by a good Samaritan in a nearby building and subsequently alerted Ogwashi-Uku vigilante group.

One of the members of the royal family, Prince Newton Izedinor, said the youths who stormed the venue of the festival were chased away when it was obvious that they were out for mischief.

“The clash between the cult group happened outside the vicinity of Ogbe-Nti quarter” he said.

When contacted the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, DSP Onome Onovwakpoyeya, promised to get back to our correspondent but he had yet to do so as of the time of filling this report.
